The Cornish Schools Team Show Jumping Comp

The Cornish Schools Team Show Jumping Competition was held at Colraine, Truro, on February 19th, with almost 30 teams of 4 students representing schools from all over Cornwall. This very popular competition is the second of the two winter competitions for Cornish Schools held by the Western Pony Club. The Club will be holding a third Cornish Schools competition on May 9th, this time including a class for Primary Schools, in conjunction with the Open Show at Tregurtha, Marazion.

The morning class kicked off with the more experienced Open teams jumping over a technical track built by Zoe Gwennap. Truro High won after an exciting timed second round, with the Humphry Davy Rockets coming a very close second. The Individual Winner was Dara Maddern from the Roseland School and the Best Presented team was the Humphry Davy Rockets. Full results below.

The Novice Teams jumped in the afternoon: this was another thrilling class with the teams going all out to win. However, the trophy was eventually taken back to Richard Lander School by the Adventurers Team, with Truro High in second place. The Individual Competition was won by Katie Jelbert from Mount's Bay and the Best Presented team was the Bodmin Bombers.

Many thanks to our competition Judges Mike Angove and Natalie Moore, the tireless Arena Party Cecily Ponsford and Jess Bode, Presentation Judges Christina Carson and Ann Luke and the rest of the Western PC volunteers who kept the competition running smoothly all day.
