The 'Penwith School Sports Partnership' (SSP) started in September 2003. We are government funded project to improve the standard of Physical Education and sporting opportunities in all of the schools in Penwith.
"Our mission is to build a brighter future for young people of Penwith by enhancing the quality of their physical education and sporting opportunities"
We have been working hard to improve the provision, standard and the variety of PE and School Sporting opportunities available for the pupils in the Penwith District Schools. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic team who work passionately and with commitment.
There are currently 440 SSP's in England. Every school in England is now attached to an SSP. There are a total of 4 SSP's in Cornwall, each hosted by a sports college (Mounts Bay, Penryn, Poltair & Callington). Every Sports College & SSP is supported by a Regional Development Officer from the Youth Sport Trust. Visit www.youthsporttrust.org for more national information and resources.
The Five Hour Offer: We plan to offer every child two hours of 'high quality' physical education per week and a further three hours of access to sporting activity each week. These additional three hours can be accessed either during lunchtime, after-school, evenings, weekends or during school holidays.
